The train to Flåm is one of the most beautiful train journeys on earth. This branch of the famous connection from Bergen to Oslo starts at the mountain station of Myrdal. From there it descends to Flåm in the Aurlandfjord through the Norwegian fjords.
This train journey is a wonderfully relaxed way to enjoy the stunning landscapes of Norway. The train only rides for tourists these days and it is an excellent way to experience the landscape. The Flamsbana, as the train ride is officially called, brings you pass mountains, waterfalls, and much more. The ride will make you feel tiny as the landscape is rugged and colossal.
The train route runs from Flåm to Myrdal. Starting at sea level in the Sognefjord in Flåm and ending at the Myrdal station at an altitude of 867 meters. This journey takes about an hour. You can also go back to Flåm, where the landscape looks totally different. You can also start in Myrdal and then back and forth.
Myrdal has a train connection to the city of Bergen as well as Oslo, so you can easily find a connection if you want to do everything by train. The train runs all year round, including in winter. Which produces wonderfully beautiful images.
