Dog Sledding Tour

Have an incredible experience with these animals

It’s one of the best ways to discover Greenland: dog sledding. You can get in on the action; steering, but mostly braking, because the dogs literally take off when you give them the commando to go.

Dog Sledding options

There are several different operators that offer sledding trips with guides, which is important because there are polar bears around. The guides have guns in case of emergency, but thankfully they’re rarely needed as polar bears and sled dogs generally avoid each other.

On a tour usually two people take one sled. One is sitting on the sled, while the other is on the back and steers the sled. Although, steering is an exaggeration, because the animals do. They know most of the routes and often know the way.

You have to brake at the most. You do this by pushing a large piece of iron with your feet. You also learn certain commands to send the animals. Such as how to stop (important) as well as how to get moving again.

Pay close attention to the animals along the way. You will see that the animals really enjoy going out. The animals are used to this and their wide-open mouth with hanging tongue is normal. You don't have to feel sorry, you will find that this is their lust and their life. Which will only make you enjoy more.
