Xunantunich is the most beautiful Maya temple complex in Belize. The Mayan complex Xunantunich is located in the rainforest in the west of the country.
In the west of Belize you’ll find the rain forest and the Xunantunich Maya ruins. According to legend a woman dressed in white with eyes like glowing embers disappeared into the wall of the large structure: El Castillo.
Walking around you’ll notice there is still plenty yet undiscovered here, there are interesting mounds with trees that seem like the must be hiding ruins underneath.
In 2016 scientists discovered a Maya tomb with a skeleton and offerings. Pay attention to the trees to see (and hear) the howler monkeys.
