This special pedestrian bridge in Austria is popular with hikers and nature lovers. You can walk at an altitude of hundreds of meters above a valley. Especially in the morning and at sunset it is very beautiful.

The walk is a wonderful feeling to walk across the steel bridge. It is an experience by itself, this bridge wobbles quite a bit. Just look below at the gaping hole.

You get a fantastic view of the mountain tops, that can be covered in snow in early spring.

The bridge connects two historically important forts: the Ehrenberg ruins and Fort Claudia. When you walk the bridge you can visit both castles.

This kind of suspension bridge is often used in the Himalayas, that’s why they’re known as Tibetan Style bridges. The footbridge is 1,2 meters wide and open daily from 8 am to 10 pm. The name comes from the route 179 freeway which is located in the valley below.

Till July 2017 the Highline179 was the longest suspension footbridge in the world. The Charles Kuonen suspension bridge in Switzerland has taken over the number one position with its 494 meters in length.
