The Whitsunday Islands are paradise. This archipelago is located on the Great Barrier Reef and is famous for Whitehaven Beach, a pristine strip of white sandy beach, set against beautiful turquoise waters.
Whitehaven Beach stretches along seven kilometres along the coast of Whitsunday Island, the largest of the group. Its most stunning feature is the bay, famous from many photos.
You can walk along the beach, but you can also walk to Hill Inlet or Tongue Point, where you have spectacular views over the pearly white beach and the deep blue sea.
How do I get there?
You will find the 74 islands that form the Whitsundays on the east coast of Queensland. They are located between Mackay in the south and Bowen in the north.
You can only reach the islands by boat (or helicopter). The helicopter flight is much more expensive of course, but you’re also paying for the breathtaking views from the air. You’ll never forget it.
