The Highlands Camp tree house is a unique accommodation in Tanzania. Get the most out of your trip to the Ngorongoro Crater and stay in these unique tree domes.
Going on a safari is an amazing experience. Especially in Tanzania, one of the countries with unique wildlife reserves such as the Serengeti and the Ngorongoro Crater. But it also has some special accommodations on offer, where you can unwind after an eventful day out and about.
One of these special places to stay in Tanzania is the Highlands Camp. It’s in a forest on the slopes of the Olmoti volcano on the northern side of the Ngorongoro crater, which you’ll have a beautiful view of. And you’re relatively close to the park, so you can head off early in the morning to beat the crowds and go on an early safari.
At Highlands Camp you can stay in tree domes, unique guest rooms that are raised on platforms between the trees and have windows that go from floor to ceiling. That way, you won’t miss any of the birds, monkeys and of course the sunrises and sunsets.
Every dome has a kingsize bed and a characteristic African-style bathroom with warm water and a toilet.
The most special thing about these domes might be that they’re entirely ecological with minimal impact on what you came for: the beautiful natural environment.
It’s definitely not cheap: at least 400 US dollars per person per night. This does include two safaris in the Ngorongoro and all meals, which guests have rated very highly.
