Buckingham Palace is the official residence of the British Queen. This palace has more than 600 rooms and was originally a country house for the Duke of Buckingham. Since 1993, parts of the palace are accessible to the public, but only during the months of August and September.
One of the most beautiful rooms is the throne room, where the throne of the Queen can be seen. The thrones of her parents and grandparents are also here. Famous is also the Royal Collection, with paintings by famous masters like Rembrandt, Rubens, Van Dyck, Vermeer and Poussin. Those who close their eyes during a visit can even get an idea of how a Queen’s life should look like.
