Unique walkway among the tree tops of the botanical garden in Kirstenbosch

Kirstenbosch Botanical Garden is located on the outskirts of Cape Town. The famous botanical garden is home to numerous plants and flowers from this region.

Cape Town got a new attraction in 2014: the famous botanic gardens of Kirstenbosch now has a unique walkway that snakes its way amongst the tops of the trees. The boardwalk offers a great point of view over the vegetation of this part of South Africa.

As well as the nearby iconic Table Mountain. From Kirstenbosch Botanical Garden you can walk up Table Mountain. It is a really nice hike and not too steep. 

Boomslang

The 11 meter high path in Cape Town has been named Boomslang, after a highly venomous snake. The path winds in a curve along branches and trunks in the same way as this animal would. The path is 130 meters long and made of galvanised steel. And from the botanical garden it is possible to climb Table Mountain. This way you can take another icon of South Africa with you.

Best time for Kirstenbosch Botanical Garden

The temperatures are very variable. In January it will reach a maximum of 26 degrees, in June it can only be as low as five degrees. Now and then there is snow. In winter the wind often blows harder. most flowers in the garden are out in October and November
