Recoleta is a posh quarter, but it is also the name of a famous cemetery. Here, many great names out of Argentine history found their final resting place. Since 1882 the cemetery is open to public.
The most famous name is probably Eva Perón, in Spanish-speaking countries also referred to as Evita. For many years, her remains were kept abroad (for instance, in Italy). A number of years ago her remains were buried in the Duartes family tomb.
Many tombs are made of marble and are exuberantly decorated. At the cemetery you can see many different architectural styles.
You can find Cementerio de la Recoleta in the northern part of Buenos Aires.
