Trinidad and Tobago

Special mix of the Caribbean and South America

Trinidad and Tobago are two large islands with some smaller islands nearby, full of golden beaches and palm trees. Because they’re located off the coast of Venezuela there is a lot of South-American influence here. One of those is their carnival, the second biggest after that in Brazil

Trinidad and Tobago are among the most diverse islands in the Caribbean. With a striking amount of nature and wild animals. Including many birds. This is because it is very close to South America.

The biggest island is Trinidad. Tobago is a lot smaller and less populated. The islands are popular with sun-loving tourists; Maracas Beach is the most popular beach in Trinidad. Though there are dozens of them, some of which are desert.

It’s also a great place for walking. You could take a hike to Pigeon Peak on Tobago, for example. This is almost 600 meters high and has a great view over the islands.

An easy walk is a trail to the Argyle Waterfalls, also on Tobago. You walk fifteen minutes through the rainforest to get to the falls, and when you get there, you can jump straight in.
