Pakistan is not a standard destination. The country has a very long history, but also has many interesting attractions. Pakistan offers a special mix of culture and nature. Civilisation has existed for thousands of years, which is still visible. 

Attractions include ancient forts and mausoleums from the famous Mughal era. But you will also find modern mosques with a lot of splendour and friendly people. The most surprising thing is nature. Pakistan lies partly in the rugged mountains of the Himalayas. In the north you will find mountains above 8,000 meters, glaciers and mountain lakes. Derawar Fort

The Derawar Fort is more than imposing. It was built in the 9th century by local ruler Rai Jajja Bhati. The fort was located on several widely used routes. Among other things, for pilgrims from India to Mecca and the trade routes between India and Central Asia.

Derawar Fort is still in very good condition. When you visit the fort you can see no less than forty bastions. They had to protect the fortress. The fortress is secluded in the Cholistan Desert. You will find it about 100 kilometers south of the city of Bahalwalpur.

Deosai National Park

Deosai National Park is a strikingly high plateau in northern Pakistan. The average height is no less than 4,114 meters. making this one of the highest plateaus in the world. The scenery is extremely impressive. Imagine mountains, rivers and lakes.

The park was established in 1993 to protect the Isabel bear (or Himalayan bear). This is a subspecies of the brown bear. You will also find other animals such as the wolf, the elusive snow leopard, wild sheep and Siberian ibex. You can visit the park with a four-wheel drive vehicle.

Pakistan Tour

Nowadays it is relatively easy to take a tour of Pakistan. This can be done with a group, but also by car with a driver. Driving a car yourself is almost impossible because of the bad roads and minimal signage. And you might need additional insurance.
