New Zealand’s 580 Metre-High Waterfall

The Sutherland Falls are relatively unknown, but belongs with the ‘big guys’ when it comes to waterfalls. It’s around 580 metres high, with three points where it cascades down in Fiordland National Park.

The waterfall in on the famous Milford Track, so you can only reach it by foot. Another way to see it is by helicopter, in which you’ll also be able to see the impressive lake behind the falls: Quill Lake.

Highest Waterfall in New Zealand?

For many years people thought it was the highest waterfall in New Zealand, but those are the Browne Falls (which are just like the Sutherland Falls in the Fiordland National Park). Browne Falls are a huge 830 metres high.
