Nepal

Roof of the world and home of the Mount Everest

Nepal is the true Himalayas. Welcome to the land of the Yeti and the Mount Everest. Both have been drawing adventurers for years. It has varied landscapes with subtropical forests on one side and mountains on the other. The largest part of Nepal is made up of mountains. Of the world’s 14 highest mountains, 8 are in Nepal. And you can also still see tigers and snow leopards here.

In 2015 a huge earthquake hit Nepal, killing many people and causing much damage. Thankfully, Nepal is recovering, but many monuments and tourist sites still need to be rebuilt. Many of the important tourist attractions in the 3 ancient cities (Kathmandu, Patan and Bhaktapur) were destroyed, but they are still worth a visit.

Nepal is a mountainous country, and there are also many valleys here. You could almost call the landscape inhospitable, but the people here are incredibly friendly.

For many it’s an almost unreachable destination, though Mount Everest’s base camp is becoming easier to access these days. And you won’t forget the stunning landscapes you’ll walk through, nor the kind Sherpas.

But Nepal is also a great place to spot special animals, such as the Indian rhino. To do so, take a safari in Royal Chitwan National Park or in Bardia National Park.

A tour of this country will show you how people survive in this inhospitable, but extremely beautiful landscape. No photo or video will do it justice, you have to see it for yourself.

The best time to travel to Nepal is the start of the dry season (October and November) though you can visit any time of year.
