Ride a quad in the Namib desert

Tour across the immense dunes of Namibia

a large part of the Namib desert is made up of ‘living’ dunes, where the tracks you leave behind are cleared away nearly immediately by the wind. Your guide will show you how to ride your quad up a dune. And, more terrifyingly, how to ride down one.

Adrenaline all over

It’s a huge adrenaline rush. Giant dunes loom in front of you, and your quad suddenly feels tiny. You’re not allowed to take quads into the national park for simple reasons: there are dunes in the Namib desert that have been unchanged for hundreds of years, so riding a quad over them would leave obvious traces.

Not in the National Park

You're not allowed to ride a quad in the Namib-Naukluft National Park, but that's only a small part of the Namib desert. But you're allowed to ride on the living dunes, where the wind clears away any traces very quickly. It's a unique experience. Research has shown that there is no impact on the living dunes.

Where can I do this tour?

Most excursions leave near the town of Swakopsmund on the coast. The dunes are just behind there.
