When you’re climbing to the top of this huge mound of sand, you’ll see a landscape unfold that’s full of other dunes. It will literally take your breath away. Note the shadows that the sun creates on the dunes.

The best time to go is early in the morning or late in the afternoon, and make sure you have lots of time. It will take you a while to get up there and you’ll be sweating in no time. And Dune 45 is the only one you are still allowed to climb, to reduce the impact of tourists on the landscape.

The view as you climb, and especially from the very top, cannot be rivalled, so take your time to take it all in.
Don’t forget to take plenty of water, and wear sunglasses and something to cover your head.
