Mexico city is in the middle of Mexico, and it’s the capital. It’s a vast city, with around 10 million inhabitants. It’s a lively city, with classic Volkswagen Beetles as taxis, delicious food, and the Zocalo, its famous square.

Mexico City has a tumultuous past. In the 16th century, the Spanish built the current city on the ruins of the Aztec city of Tenochtitlan.

The historic centre of Mexico city is on the UNESCO World Heritage List, with the Basilica de Guadalupe, an important pilgrim destination, as a crowning glory. A day in Mexico City is intriguing and absolutely worth doing.
