Most important road in Teotihuacan

The avenue of the Dead is the road that connects all the important structures in Teotihuacan. It is straight as an arrow, and runs right through the city. It's currently around 2 kilometres long, though it used to be much longer.

One one end of the avenue in Teotihuacan is the Pyramid of the Moon, and in the south it ends at the citadel. The Pyramid of the sun is halfway along this wide road, towards the east. The name of the road has come from the Aztecs, who moved here much later. The official name of this avenue when it was first laid out is unknown.

Visiting Avenue of the Dead

In the north it ends at the Pyramid of the Moon, in the south it merges into the Citadel. The Pyramid of the Sun is located halfway along this wide avenue on the east side.

Origin of the name

The name comes from the Aztecs, who came here much later. What the Teotihuacans called this street is unknown. It is one of the many mysteries surrounding the Teotihuacans. Relatively little is known about this people. Which only makes the experience of this street more intense.
