Glass elevator overseeing Lake Garda

A new glass lift connects the historic centre of Riva del Garda with the Venetian Bastion

An elevator of glass which overlooks the stunning Lake Garda in Italy. The new lift is situated in the city of Riva del Garda. The lift is officially open since July 2020.

This glass lift at the town of Riva del Garda is a special way to enjoy Lake Garda. In a few minutes, you go up and you can enjoy the beautiful view along the way.

The panoramic elevator is built against the Monte Rochetta mountain. The cable car is completely made of glass. So that you can enjoy the typical Italian mountain environment. In two minutes you go up to the Bastion, where you can enjoy the view.

The city of Riva del Gardia

Riva del Garda is located in the northern part of Lake Garda. The environment is therefore more mountainous. Making it popular with tourists. Although it must also be said that it is different again. And especially more changeable. For example, it is a lot cooler in winter than in the southern part of the lake. The reason, one of the mountains blocks the low-hanging sun in the afternoon. Making it cool down quickly.

The city itself is also worth a visit. And especially the Rocca, a castle on the water. Which can only be approached via a bridge. The three city gates are also worth a visit. If you go up with the lift you will also see the 34-meter-high Torre Apponale tower above everything. The baroque church of Chiessa dell ‘Inviolata is also clearly visible.

Hiking from the Lake Garda elevator

Many hikers use the lift as a start to their hike in the mountains. You have tons of options. You can eat and drink something in the famous Bastion. You can then walk down again via a walking path. This is an easy route.

But you can also hike further up to the church of Santa Barbara. Be aware the last part is quite steep. But the church is highly praised for the view over the northern part of Lake Garda. And here too you have a mountain hut nearby to have a drink.
