Cambodia

There is more to this country than just the city of Angkor

When most people think of Cambodia, they think of the temple city Angkor, but the rest of the country is worth visiting as well. It boasts tropical beaches, as well as the intriguing capital of Phnom Penh. And many more temples, as well.

The Asian country of Cambodia has much more on offer than its former capital of Angkor, home to the world-famous Angkor Wat temple.

The country has seen much unrest with the terror regime of the communist party the Khmer Rouge, which overthrew the government in 1975.

The country was returned to normalcy in 2003, and slowly tourists started making their way back to Cambodia.

They often only visit Angkor and then move onto Vietnam, and skip amazing places such as the Preah Vihear Temple, Choeung Ek (also known as the Killing Fields), the long stretches of beach at Sihanoukville, and the capital of Phnom Penh.
