Though Liechtenstein is in the Alps, the climate is quite mild thanks to the southern winds. But because it’s still in the mountains, there is great skiing here in winter.
Liechtenstein is a fun country to explore, it’s a long stretch of land and from north to south it’s only 25 kilometres.
Liechtenstein has been an independent state since the 18th century. On the 23rd of January 1791, the emperor Charles VI united the tiny states of Vaduz and Schellenberg to become a principality named Liechtenstein.
It’s a remarkably prosperous country, mainly due to the banks and low tax threshold for businesses. It’s a good place to go shopping, for example for alcohol, electronics and tobacco products.
