Manneken Pis

Have a giggle at the most famous statue in Belgium

Manneken Pis is a world-famous statue in the centre of Brussels. The statue is only 58cm tall and depicts a little boy peeing. The first version of this statue here dates back to 1388. It has been replaced several times, but has changed little in appearance. There are several stories and legends about the little guy.

How do I get there?

Manneken Pis means The little pissing man. It is located on the corner of the Rue du Chêne/Eikstraat and the Rue de l’Étuve/Stoofstraat, near the Grand Place.

It has become one of the most famous statues in Belgium, and even around the world. He’s also a mascot of Brussels and is known to wear costumes for different celebrations in the city.

Please note:

The current Manneken Pis statue at this location is a 1965 replica of the one sculpted in 1619 by Hiëronymus Duquesnoy the Elder, which is on display at the Museum of the City of Brussels, at the Maison du Roi/Broodhuis, at the Grand Place.
