The Atomium in Belgium is a famous monument, though not everyone knows what it depicts exactly. It’s an iron crystal magnified 165 billion times!
The Atomium was constructed for the Brussels World’s Fair, which took place here in 1958. It was designed by engineer André Waterkeyn.
Five of the nine spheres are open to the public, and the top one is a restaurant. Most of them are very futuristic, as you will see on your visit.
The Atomium is in the north of Brussels, a 5-minute walk of the Heizel/Heysel metro station (line 6).
