Whitehaven Beach

Most beautiful beach in the world?

Whitehaven Beach is a special beach on the Whitsunday Islands in Australia. The beach stretches for more than seven kilometers along the coast of Whitsunday Island. This is the largest island in the Whitsundays, as the islands are often affectionately known. The best part is the bay, which you always see in pictures.

The white beaches, the blue water and the green woods are beyond idyllic. You have to see it to believe it. Whitehaven Beach has become very popular through social media. The photos do not really do justice to this paradise.

The group of islands is located in the Great Barrier Reef. Whitehaven Beach is a long stretch of unprecedented white sand, that contrasts with the extremely clear water. It is part of no fewer than 74 islands that together form the Whitsunday Islands.

Hiking at Whiteheaven Beach

You can easily walk along the stunning white beach. Keep an eye out for animals in the crystal clear waters. Including young sharks, rays and many fish. Take your time for this beach walk. It is probably one of the most beautiful in your life.

But you can also hike to Hill Inlet or Tongue Point. Then you have an extra good view over the pearly white beach and the deep blue sea. This is the best option for taking pictures.

Visiting Whitehaven Beach

You can only reach the islands by boat (or helicopter). The helicopter flight is much more expensive of course, but you’re also paying for the breathtaking views from the air. You’ll never forget it.

Location of Whitehaven Beach

The Whitsunday Islands lie off the east coast of Queensland. The islands lie between Mackay in the south and Bowen in the north.
