This world famous road is the longest road in the world. In South America the road is particularly famous in Patagonia. That's why it is well known in South America, but it actually starts in Alaska (in North America). You choose which part you want to drive.

It crosses the following countries: Canada, United States, Mexico, Guatemala, El Salvador, Honduras, Nicaragua, Costa Rica, Panama, Colombia, Ecuador, Peru, Chile and Argentina. 

The road begins in Prudhoe Bay (Alaska) and crosses all countries of North-, Middle- and South America. 

There is only one obstruction, known as the Darién Gap, which is a strip of rainforest about 100 km wide between Panama and Colombia, which blocks the route between Middle- and South America.

The road officially ends in Buenos Aires, but many tourists continue all the way to Ushuaia in Argentina.
